Taboola conversions and cost, down to the publisher site

The Taboola template captures the click ID plus site, item, title and platform macros. ClickFlare posts each conversion to trc.taboola.com with its revenue and currency under your Taboola event name, and the cost integration pulls spend by campaign, content and publisher.

Block and bid on Taboola sites with real revenue

See which publishers pay

site and site_id land in tracking fields, so you can find the sites that convert and block them or bid them up in Taboola.

Revenue Taboola can bid on

The postback sends revenue and currency with each conversion, so Taboola's bidding and your ClickFlare stats agree.

Actual spend, not a guess

Taboola's cpc macro is encrypted and ClickFlare can't read it. The cost integration pulls actual spend from Taboola's API instead.

Click ID in, event name out

Taboola fills click_id and the other macros when the ad is clicked, and ClickFlare stores the click ID as the External ID. On a conversion, the postback sends it back as click-id with the revenue, under the Event Name you created in Realize.
  • One postback per Taboola event
  • Include in total conversions only on the final event
  • Status Active means events arrived in the last 7 days

Connected in four steps

You need a Taboola Realize account with a conversion event, a Taboola Client ID and Client Secret for cost, and a ClickFlare account with your own tracking domain.
  1. Create the event in Taboola In Realize, open Tracking and click + New Conversion. Choose code-based conversions, set the type to EVENT, leave Fixed Value empty and note the Event Name, for example make_purchase.
  2. Add the Taboola traffic source In the campaign editor, add a traffic source from the Taboola template. Turn on Traffic source postback URL and replace REPLACE_EVENT_NAME with your exact Event Name.
  3. Add the URL to Taboola Copy the campaign URL. Paste it into each ad's URL field, or put everything after the ? in the campaign's Tracking Code section. Use one place, not both.
  4. Connect Taboola cost Add the Taboola cost integration with your Client ID, Client Secret and a matching timezone. Select it on the traffic source and set the campaign Cost Model to Not Tracked.

Use cases

How media buyers run it

Taboola → lander → offer

Send the sale under one event name and keep Include in total conversions ticked only on it, so Taboola bids on buyers.

Taboola → article → RSOC

Post the ad click on your arbitrage page as a custom conversion, then send feed revenue later with a delayed revenue postback.

Lead and sale as two events

Create lead and make_purchase in Taboola and add one postback per event. Earlier steps can report without driving bidding.
